Government Announces Replacement of HKID

DDHK.ORG - The Hong Kong government has announced the latest schedule for replacing the old HKID (KTP Hong Kong) with a Smart Identity Card (new KTP) for all residents. Hong Kong born between 1957-1963 and 1970-1976. The schedule also applies to Indonesian citizens holding HKID who were born in the range of these years.

The announcement was made through the official website of the Hong Kong Government for the manufacture of Smart Identity Cards, smartid.gov.hk.

"The Hong Kong Government announces that since 7 September 2020 the services at all Smart Identity Card Replacement centers (" Replacement Centers ") are fully operational again," wrote the Hong Kong Government.

Applicants who previously had an appointment to change their old KTP (HKID) to a Smart Identity Card are not required to make another service appointment. Meanwhile, to shorten the service waiting time, applicants who do not have an appointment are required to make an appointment before coming to the HKID replacement location, Replacement Center.

Based on this announcement, the Hong Kong Government revised the summons for replacing old KTPs to new KTPs for residents or HKID holders born in 1957 to 1963 and 1970 to 1976.The new schedule took effect from 11 September 2020.

The following is the Latest HKID Replacement Schedule

  • Birth 1957, 1958, 1959: 16 November 2019 - 26 September 2020
  • Birth 1960, 1961: 18 February - 26 September 2020
  • Birth 1962, 1963: 28 July 2020 - 30 January 2021
  • Birth 1970, 1971, 1972: 2 November 2020 - 30 April 2021
  • Birth 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976: The application / application period announced earlier is no longer valid. The relevant calling programs will be announced separately.

“You can make service appointments and fill out forms on the internet  https://www.gov.hk/en/residents/immigration/idcard/hkic/newicbooking.htm or via the Department of Immigration's Mobile App https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/mobile/index.html before coming to the Smart Identity Card replacement center, so you can save queuing time and enjoy a faster registration process, ”wrote the Hong Kong Government.

Responding to this, through its official Facebook page, on September 5, 2020, the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong provided guidance for Indonesian citizens who want to change their old KTP to a new Hong Kong KTP. The Consulate General published several slide images to guide the process of making service appointments online.
