Hong Kong Loosens Social Distancing Rules, Gathering May 4

Group gatherings of more than four people in a public place are prohibited for an eight-day period, from 24 February 2021 to 3 March 2021. Anyone participating in group gatherings is prohibited; arranging prohibited group meetings; owning, controlling or operating the meeting place; and knowingly allowing such a meeting to take place carries a maximum fine of HK $ 25,000 and up to six months imprisonment.

Persons who participate in prohibited group meetings can relieve responsibility for the offense by paying an immediate fixed fine of HK $ 5,000.

The government is urging members of the public to comply with anti-epidemic measures related to wearing masks and a ban on group gatherings of more than the maximum number of people allowed in public places.
