3 Ways to Clean a Dishwashing Sponge

First, use bleach and water. In some tests, the bleach solution was effective at killing 99,9 percent of bacteria from sponges.

  1. Mix 180 milliliters of bleach and 4 liters of water.
  2. Soak the sponge in the mixture for five minutes.
  3. Remove and rinse the sponge until clean.

Second, using the microwave. This method is also called effective in repelling 99,9 percent of germs.

The trick, soak the sponge in water. Use 60 milliliters of water for a scrub sponge or 120 milliliters of water for a cellulose sponge.

Then, take it out and put the sponge in the microwave. Heat on high for 1-2 minutes.

Third, use vinegar. Just like the microwave and liquid bleach, vinegar can also help repel bacteria from the sponge.
